A minimum wage job is where you learn to get to work on time. It’s where you learn the great feeling at the end of a week of getting that paycheck, of knowing you gave an honest week’s work. It’s where you learn the social aspects of work. It’s where you play on the work softball team or go out for a beer after work. – GOP U.S. Senate Nominee Ed Gillespie
You probably saw Ed Gillespie’s shocking comments on the minimum wage last week, where he said minimum wage jobs are where workers “play on the work softball team or go out for a beer after work”.
We know this isn’t what most minimum wage workers are able to do with their free time. They have families to take care of, second jobs to attend to, bills to pay and mouths to feed. Softball and beer sounds great, but isn’t the reality for most hard-working Virginians trying to make ends meet.
If you have an experience about making the minimum wage, we’d appreciate it if you take a moment to submit your personal story. Together, we can make sure that Ed Gillespie thinks twice before making rude and inaccurate comments about thousands of Virginians.
