Warner Campaign Announces Chair, Key Staff
ALEXANDRIA – U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner today announced former state cabinet official and corporate executive Eva Teig Hardy, will chair his 2014 re-election campaign. Ms. Hardy previously served as Sen. Warner’s Interim State Director in 2009.
“I am honored to chair Senator Warner’s campaign,” said Hardy. “His efforts to reach across the aisle throughout his first term are why he has my support. It is critical that he is able to continue his bipartisan leadership, including his work with the gang of six, to reduce our nation’s debt and rein in our budget.”
In addition, the campaign announced the hiring of four key staff members: Trey Nix, Campaign Manager; Keyanna Conner, Political Director; Dave Stroup, Digital Director; and David Turner, Press Secretary.
“These new members bring talent, focus and commitment to our campaign team,” said Sen. Warner. “They will help us communicate our established record of working across party lines to find commonsense solutions that strengthen the economy, create jobs and opportunity, and make our government more efficient and effective for taxpayers.”
Eva Teig Hardy is a retired executive vice president for public policy and communications for Dominion Resources, where, for 21 years, she was responsible for public policy, community affairs and communications throughout the many states where Dominion operates. Prior to that, she served as Secretary of Health and Human Resources for Virginia Gov. Gerald L. Baliles and Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry for Gov. Charles S. Robb.
Trey Nix comes to Sen. Warner’s campaign having most recently run Aneesh Chopra’s campaign for lieutenant governor. Prior to that, he managed campaigns for Paul Hirschbiel in Virginia’s 2nd District and Phil Puckett’s State Senate race in Virginia’s 38th Senate District. Before coming to Virginia, he managed Bobby Bright’s congressional campaign in Alabama.
Dave Stroup joins Senator Warner’s campaign having most recently worked at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee as the digital communications manager. Previously, he ran the digital program and the communications team for Chopra for Virginia and was a digital organizer for the Sierra Club.
Keyanna Conner has been a longtime activist in the Democratic Party of Virginia. Since 2007, she has helped organize Democrats in Central Virginia, acting as the president of the Metro Richmond Young Democrats and eventually chairing the Henrico Democratic Party. She currently serves on the DPVA’s State Central Committee. She grew up on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
David Turner joins Senator Warner’s campaign having previously served as the communications director for Barbara Buono’s campaign for New Jersey governor. Previously, he worked as a regional press secretary in Ohio for Obama for America and as a finance manager at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
